Eddie is a dedicated, reliable, and conscientious instructional assistant who always puts students first. He is fondly known by his students and many staff as "Coach," and he epitomizes what the best coaches provide for their players. Coach is always one of the first to school, and he’s always ready to take on whatever the day may bring. He leads with a positive attitude and guides and supports students in their learning and growth each and every day. For the past several years, Coach has been working with students who have moderate to severe disabilities. The remarkable students in his classroom light up when he enters the room; they all know that he is their biggest fan. Throughout the day, Eddie takes on many different roles with his students. From working with the kids in PE, to supporting them in Tech Squad, to encouraging one to do his best walking when out of his wheelchair. Eddie has earned and holds a teaching credential, and therefore, he has strengthened his ability to provide valuable support for the teachers he works with as well as the best teaching and learning opportunities for the students .
When we think of Eddie Shanholtz and his role in CUSD, the word that comes to mind is “committed.” After 33 years of service, Eddie continues to exude positivity, kindness, and genuine love of the work that he does for our students. He exemplifies integrity and leaves a lifelong impression on all of the students he has supported, guided, coached and taught.
