Coronado Recreation - October Activities

TEEN OCTOBER ACTIVITIES

Coronado Recreation is offering a plethora of activities this October for Middle School Age Teens.  Starting with a Babysitter Training Class on Saturday, October 6th from 9:30am-2:00pm (open to 11-15 year olds), and on to an Islander Explorers Club Hiking Trip to Cowles Mountain on Wednesday October 10th from 1:20-5:00pm.

To celebrate everyone’s favorite October Costume Celebration, the recreation department has six different ways for teens “TO SAY BOO,” this year including:

Friday Night on the Town Trip through the Haunted Trails of Balboa Park on Friday, October 19th from 6:00-11:00pm.  Then, there’s a chance to be a ghost or goblin on the Haunted Trail Hike at Oakoasis County Park on Saturday, October 13th from 3:30-10:00pm. Both Haunted Trail activities include adult supervision and transportation to and from Coronado.

There are also, Halloween volunteer opportunities for teens including assisting young children with Pumpkin Painting at Coronado Farmer’s Market at the Ferry Landing Tuesday, October 16th from 3:00-5:00pm and/or running a carnival booth at the Community Center’s Annual Halloween Happening on Friday, October 26th from 3:00-6:00pm.

All this celebrating continues with a Teen Halloween Party on Friday, October 26th from 7:00-9:00pm…a night of spooky contests, dodgeball, music, dancing, snacks and more at the community center exclusive for 6th – 8thgraders.  Last but truly not least in October, is the Costume Skate Night Barbeque on Saturday, October 26th from 7:00-10:00pm at the Coronado Skatepark.

Almost all these Teen October Activities are open only to 6th- 8thgraders but a few are open to high school teens too.  For detailed information or to register for any of these trips, classes, parties or volunteer opportunities, contact the Coronado Recreation Department at 619-522-7342 or check out the city’s website atwww.coronado.ca.us and click on the FALL / WINTER RECREATION BROCHURE for details on all these teen programs.
